Human needs a good land to farming or if the land not fertile, we can do another way to explore the land. In different case, a land maybe have a rich mineral materials like coals, irons, gas or fossil fuels from deep of the earth.

The history shows us that many good places in the world or major cities located near a big river or seaside. This place good for fisheries and do international trade activities by water transportation. Some places not in the vast or wide land like America, Australia or Africa continent.

Can I rent an island in Indonesia?

There are more 17.000 islands in Indonesia, from the big islands like Sumatera, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi or Papua to the little one like in Kepulauan Seribu in the north of Jakarta. Sometimes, you will found an advertising like this: "FOR RENT Siloinak island!" or "Macan island for rent only US$700 per weeek". If you have some money, you can do that. You can rent an island that you want in Indonesia. Is it a simple thing?

An island like as a property. The owner can use, build or rent it pursuant to Indonesian law or government regulations. For Indonesian citizen it is not a problem. But, if you are a foreigner you must consult with the lawyers or legal consultants. Rent for one day, one week or one month, it is no problem for both local citizen or a foreigner.

An exclusive resort built in an island usually. As the other country, local citizen or a foreigner can rent and enjoy whole island for yourself and your guests like a British super soccer player, David Beckam and his wife Victoria celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary a few week ago in Necker island, British Virgin Island (Carrebean).

Indonesia Archipelago

So many information we can find about Indonesia Archipelago from the internet. Sometimes like this : "Indonesia is often referred to as the world's largest archipelago, a name which aptly represents its 17,000 or so islands which span more than 5000 km (around 3,200 miles) eastward from Sabang in northern Sumatra to Merauke in Irian Jaya. If you superimpose a map of Indonesia over one of Europe, you will find that it stretches from Ireland to Iran; compared to the United States, it covers the area from California to Bermuda... " For more complete sentences you can find at http://www.indo.com/indonesia/archipelago.html.

Wikipedia noted that Indonesia has 18.000 islands or more (around 6.000 islands not populated). It can be debatable about how many islands in Indonesia. The exactly data is = X islands minus Sipadan and Ligitan (Now, Sipadan and Ligitan islands to be Malaysia's teritory).
The Indonesian archipelago has been an important trade region since at least the seventh century, when the Srivijaya Kingdom traded with China and India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesia).
